Energy4Seniors
A statewide community education program empowering older Queenslanders to make wise energy choices and save money.
Council on the Ageing Queensland knows that many older people are experiencing cost of living pressures and energy-related expenses make up a significant proportion of regular household expenditure.
To respond to this, we are running a statewide program called Energy4Seniors.
This program uses local volunteer ‘Energy Champions’ to provide older people with face-to-face discussions to reduce their energy bills by:
- Increasing awareness regarding concessions, rebates and supports like hardship programs and services from the Energy and Water Ombudsman.
- Improving understanding of energy bills and usage including how to use smart meters and tariff and energy plans.
- Giving confidence to better manage energy efficiency.
Make a difference – Become a Volunteer Energy Champion!
Are you a community-minded person connected to local groups and activities involving older people with a drive to help others? This is the perfect opportunity for you!
Why become an Energy Champion?
As an Energy Champion, you will play a vital role in connecting with older people and offering face-to-face, small group information sessions.
You will be trained, provided with ongoing support, and equipped with a wide range of information, resources and ideas to share with your local community.
