Connected and Over 50 Lived Experience Advisory Panel
Share your lived experience. Help shape change for older Queenslanders.
The Connected and Over 50 Lived Experience Advisory Panel (CO50 LEAP) brings together a small, diverse group of older Queenslanders to contribute lived experience insight across the issues that matter most as we age.
CO50 LEAP ensures older people’s voices are present in conversations with government, industry, academia and the media, and that advocacy, policy and research are informed by real-world experience.
Lived experience belongs at the decision-making table.
Why CO50 LEAP Matters
Decisions about ageing are stronger when they are informed by lived experience.
Too often, policy, programs and research are developed without direct input from the people most affected. CO50 LEAP helps address this gap by embedding lived experience into decision-making and public discussion.
Through CO50 LEAP, older Queenslanders help shape:
- Policy development and reform.
- Industry and service system responses.
- Research priorities and interpretation.
- Media commentary and public understanding.
What is CO50 LEAP?
CO50 LEAP is a defined advisory role, not a one-off consultation or survey. It is a small advisory panel whose members are selected to reflect the diversity of older people living in Queensland, including diversity of background, identity, geography and life experience. Members contribute their individual perspectives. CO50 LEAP does not seek consensus views, and no member is expected to represent all older people.
The strength of the panel lies in the diversity of experiences and insights it brings.
Partner with CO50 LEAP
CO50 LEAP provides opportunities for government, industry, researchers and organisations to hear directly from older Queenslanders and incorporate lived experience into their work.
Through the panel, COTA Queensland facilitates structured engagement with a small, diverse group of older people who bring insight across a range of issues affecting ageing in Queensland.
