Bequests & Donations

Leaving a legacy

Our aim is to help create a more just, equitable and caring community in which older people are actively involved and have access to appropriate support, services and care. You can help us to continue to fight for an Age-friendly Queensland.

You can help us to achieve this by leaving a bequest in your will to COTA Queensland. Your gift will enable us to continue to advance the rights, needs and interests of people as they age in Queensland. To make a Bequest you must first make a Will. Check with your solicitor or the Public Trustee of Queensland for assistance. Leaving a Bequest in your Will to COTA Queensland will enable us to continue to work towards a state where everyone, regardless of age, health status, wealth or social status has a fundamental right to sustainable, ongoing, secure and affordable access to essential services.

A Will represents your last wishes and intentions and is an opportunity to acknowledge and provide support for your loved ones. A Will is also an opportunity to provide a gift to charities that are close to your heart.

Making a Will ensures that your family knows how you would like your assets to be distributed and means you can continue to look after those you care about after your death. A will enables you to say exactly what you want to happen to your assets and your lasting legacy.

Suggested wording for your Bequest

I give and bequeath the sum of $…… to COTA Queensland, Level 1, 25 Mary Street, Brisbane Q 4000 for its general purposes. I direct that the written acknowledgement of COTA Queensland shall be accepted by my executors as a full and complete discharge.

If you do not have a Will you could die intestate and your estate could be distributed according to the laws on intestacy which can be costly and cause unnecessary problems and anxiety for your loved ones.

We welcome your generosity

Donations of $2 and over to support the work of COTA Queensland are allowable deductions for income tax purposes because of our Deductible Gift Recipient status under Australian taxation law.  In the past COTA Queensland has been fortunate to receive funds through the generosity of people who have remembered COTA Queensland in their wills.  The support that we receive through bequests and donations will ensure that the rights, needs, and interests of people as they age will continue to be represented into the future.
