Choice and control, and the effective engagement of consumers in governance and continuous improvement are central to the outcomes and requirements that underpin the new aged care quality standards. The new aged care quality standards increase the focus on quality outcomes for consumers. This means aged care services and organisations should consider how they engage with consumers to partner, co-design and target services that meet the consumer’s expectations and needs.
The Quality Agency is partnering with COTA Queensland to conduct industry-focused workshops on developing and enhancing consumer engagement practices in line with the new aged care quality standards.
The workshops will use the University of Queensland’s Engagement Toolkit, which is a comprehensive resource for aged care services aimed at helping care organisations and their staff to improve engagement practices.
