Seniors Week –  International Exploration

COTA Queensland Seniors Week Coordinator Lisa Hodgkinson will be utilising a personal trip to explore Seniors Week events and activities in Alberta Canada next week.

Over the years Lisa has shared her knowledge of coordinating Seniors Week and increasing social participation with groups throughout Queensland and with the organising committee of the first Seniors Week in Orange County California.

Lisa has welcomed the opportunity to attend the Provincial Launch of Seniors Week, held in Calgary on 5 June.

In addition, meetings have scheduled with the Edmonton City Council and the Alberta Government to discuss their Age-friendly initiatives.

In 2010, the City of Edmonton became a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities. This network includes 258 Cities and Communities in 28 countries, along with 12 affiliated programmes.

You can follow Lisa’s journey on the Queensland Seniors Week Facebook page, by listening to Radio COTA and in our next edition of COTAlife.
