The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program provides support services to frail aged and younger people with disabilities and their carers to help them to continue to live at home and in their community.
COTA Queensland, in partnership with Carers Queensland and Queensland Aged & Disability Advocacy (QADA), facilitates the C3 project which seeks out valuable, independent feedback from current or potential service users to inform HACC’s program development and delivery. The C3 project consults with HACC consumers and carers across Queensland to gather information about their experiences by using interviews, surveys, focus groups and discussions. The information obtained during the consultation is provided to HACC policy makers to assist in improving program design and service delivery.
The Commonwealth Government is taking full policy and funding responsibility for HACC aged services from 1 July 2011 and full operational responsibility from 1 July 2012. The Commonwealth Government is funding basic community care services for non-Indigenous Australians aged 65 years and over and Indigenous Australians aged 50 years and over. State and territory governments will have operational responsibility for and continue to fund basic commmunity care services for non-Indigenous Australians aged less than 65 years and Indigenous Australians aged less than 50 years.
