Date: 13 October 2017
Venue: QuAC, Training Room, 30 Helen Street, Teneriffe QLD 4005
Time: 9.30am – 1pm (Please arrive between 9am – 9.30am)
The Hon Ken Wyatt AM MP, Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Indigenous Health, established an Aged Care Sector Committee Diversity Sub-Group to advise the Government on the development of the Aged Care Diversity Framework.
As part of this Framework there will be three Action Plans. One of these action plans will be focused on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) elders. With the Framework providing overarching guidance, the individual action plans will focus on each group’s particular needs.
The action plans will support aged care providers, consumers, families and carers by focusing on solutions and addressing specific barriers and challenges affecting LGBTI elders’ ability to access mainstream and flexible aged care services.
There are six priorities for the Diversity Framework that will apply to the Action Plan. These are:
- Making informed choices
- Adopting systemic approaches to planning and implementation
- Ensuring quality care and support
- Supporting a proactive and flexible system
- Respectful and inclusive services
